The Ferry Crossing

Getting to Ilhabela is part of the experience. The ferry crossing between São Sebastião and the island operates 24 hours a day for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians, with a short journey of approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Payment can be made using electronic toll tags, such as Sem Parar, or in cash. Credit cards are not accepted.
The ferry operates 24 hours a day, with departures in every 30 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to midnight, and in every hour during the overnight period, from midnight to 5:00 a.m.

Ferry Fares

The ferry fare is charged only for the crossing from São Sebastião to Ilhabela. Rates vary depending on the type of vehicle and the day of the week.

During peak travel periods—such as Fridays (arriving on the island) and Sundays (departing the island)—queues are common. To avoid waiting, you can book a scheduled crossing through the Hora Marcada service for an additional fee.

Reservations are made separately for each direction, so you'll need one reservation to enter the island and another to leave. We recommend booking in advance if you're traveling on days when longer queues are expected.

Environmental Preservation Fee (TPA)

In addition to the ferry, Ilhabela charges an Environmental Preservation Fee (TPA), a municipal fee dedicated to protecting the island's natural environment.

The fee is charged automatically through your vehicle's license plate, so there is no need to stop at a toll booth. If you have an electronic toll tag, the payment is processed automatically. Otherwise, you can pay online by credit card, or a bank slip, either before your trip or within 30 days after the ferry crossing.
